There are devotional books for nearly every interest there is. So, I thought over the next few Saturdays I’d take a look at a variety of these little gems.
If you have a favorite devotional, I’d love to hear about it. It doesn’t have to be new. In fact some of the older ones are the dearest to our hearts. Hope you enjoy my series.
This week, I want to introduce you to a lovely set of devotional books from Barbour Publishing, called “Spiritual Refreshment for Women.” There are 7 small books in this series, but for this review, I will talk about the four I received.
“Everyday Joy” by Janice Hanna
“Everyday Comfort” by Rebecca Currington and Patricia Mitchell
“Everyday Hope” by Debora M. Coty
“Everyday Blessings” by Rebecca Currington
These are the loveliest devotionals with beautiful floral watercolors adorning each page, and a satin ribbon bookmark to keep your place in your reading. There are also several pages in the back of each book set aside for notes, and an index to each Bible verse used.
But it’s the content inside these petite tomes that is so appealing. Each page contains a biblical verse and a few words that pertain to each verse. Short, comforting and powerful, the authors have taken pains to write in simple, understandable ways. The bible verses are taken from a variety of versions, including the King James, The Message, New International Version.
“You, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. – Psalm 86:15.
God never asks you to do anything for someone else that He has not already done for you. You are able to show compassion for others because He has shown compassion for you. When you were lost and lonely, He found you. When you were sick with sin, He forgave you. Where your life was in shambles, He held you close and comforted you. When you longed for a fresh start, He opened the way before you. You give from what you have already received.“

Other titles in this series include “Everyday Encouragement,” “Everyday Prayers,” and “Everyday Promises,” and each of these titles have a journal or planner that goes along with the devotional. There is also a “Daily Spiritual Refreshment Bible for Women” designed to accompany the devotionals, and features the entire Bible arranged by daily readings.
The small devotional books are reasonably priced at $7.97 each and would be lovely gifts for anyone need a pick-me-up in their spiritual lives. The “Daily Spiritual Refreshment Bible for Women” is $14.97.
Thank you to Angie Brillhart of Barbour Publishing for furnishing the review copies.
