Cozy Mysteries get Inked All Over! The Missing Ink!

Today’s Cozy Mystery isn’t exactly typical of the “cozy mystery” genre, but it is still a fine mystery! So let me introduce you to the world of tattooing with Karen Olson’s “The Missing Ink.”

I’ve always been intrigued by tattoos. So when I saw a mystery that was set in a tattoo shop, well, I was definitely going to check it out!

Brett Kavanaugh is a tattoo artist, and the owner of The Painted Lady, a high-classed tattoo salon located in The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. When a young woman makes an appointment to get devotion ink with the name of her fiance embedded in a heart, Brett sets up an appointment, but the girl never shows. Not usual for first-timers.

The next thing Brett knows, the police are looking for her mysterious client and it turns out the name the girl wanted on the tattoo isn't the name of her fiancé. A media frenzy ensues, and Brett’s brother, Tim, a detective with the Las Vegas Police Department, has his hands full keeping his sister out of trouble.

An alliance with an unlikely partner leads Brett to a dead body, a suave Englishman, not to mention the tall tattooed stranger stalking her. Brett begins to put the clues together, but unwittingly puts herself in danger as well. Will she be able to solve the mystery of the missing bride before she becomes a statistic herself?

Karen Olson has created a fast-paced, lively mystery that will keep readers guessing from one page to the next as to who-dun-it! I loved her quirky cast of characters, including Bitsy, the tiny assistant with the big mouth, and Joel , the giant artist with a heart of gold and the fashion sense of a diva. I’m looking forward to Olson’s next installment of the Tattoo Shop Mysteries.

I’ll let you in on a secret….I have 8 tattoos myself!

What a cool idea! I've noticed at the pool here how many people have tattoos. I'm scared of needles, though. :) But I do think they're beautiful. This sounds like an interesting cozy--I'm going to check it out.

The second in the series, Pretty in Ink, will be out in March, and I'm working on the third, Driven to Ink.

This is indeed a different setting for a cozy mystery, which makes it all that more interesting. Thanks for the review!

I have always wanted a tattoo, but never gotten enough courage to get one. I guess I can read this series and live vicariously!

Great review - this one is on my list for sure. As for the tattoo - I'm too much of a whimp to even consider it :-)

Ooh, this sounds fun. I can't imagine getting a tattoo, but my son got one, and that would be enough to make me curious about this book.
