Love is in the Air with Fall Romances

I love fall! It’s a perfect time to snuggle up with a few good romantic novels, a nice cup of spiced apple juice and escape into dazzling world of lust and romance!
Three lovely romances from three prominent authors arrive just in time for that peaceful lull before the craziness of the holidays begin!

A Courtesan’s Scandal
By Julia London
Pocket Books; $7.99

The beautiful and mysterious Kate Bergeron is the former mistress of a French cloth merchant, and the latest to capture the interest of the lusty, but very married Prince of Wales. Up to his royal behind in a nasty divorce, the Prince is however determined to make Kate his new mistress, and attempts to distract attention from his intentions by ordering Grayson Christopher, the Duke of Darlington, to pretend to London society that he is the one having an affair with Kate.

When Grayson reluctantly agrees to the Prince's demand, he finds the lady no more willing than he is. Kate agrees to act the role in public, but she lets Grayson know right up front that she had no real choice in the matter, and is as reluctant as he to take part in the farce. After all, she is just a lucky girl who happened to be swept up from her bleak existence in the slums of London to become a plaything for those who have power and money. But Kate does have her pride.

As Grayson and Kate present their false relationship for the world to see, they soon find what started as a deception becoming all too real. And when their passion turns into a real, heartfelt love for one another, their predicament becomes extreme. Grayson must decide if he will risk angering his Prince and bringing his family to almost certain ruin all for the love of a courtesan.

Julia London weaves a fast paced and thoroughly enjoyable tale of forbidden love in “A Courtesan’s Scandal.” Set in 19th century England, London deftly captures the grit of London’s bleak St Katherine’s wharf-side area as well as the glitz and glamour of fashionable London society in this tale of honor and love.

I loved that her heroine, Kate, is a practical woman who simply wants to save enough money to realize her dream of owning a bakery and that she knows that her current life is only an ends to a mean. I think readers will enjoy her spunkiness and zest for life, as well as grieve wit her when things go terribly awry, as they always do in a good romance!

Captive of Sin
By Anna Campbell
Avon Books; $6.99
Australian author Anna Campbell delivers an emotional and intriguing novel of love and lust in her latest novel, “Captive of Sin.”

When Gideon Trevithick stumbles upon a sensless act of violence being wrought upon a helpless young woman, his natural instinct was to save and protect her. But when he discovers he has rescued none other than Lady Charis Weston, one of England’s wealthiest heiresses, Gideon wonders just what kind of mess he has gotten himself into.

As he slowly gains information from Charis, and discovers that her band of violent stepbrothers are determined to steal her fortune, Gideon’s clear option is to wed the beautiful Charis himself, if only to offer her protection. But can he continue hide the wretched secrets of his past from the woman he desires more with each passing moment?

“Captive of Sin” is a fascinating look at how a relationship can overcome insurmountable odds in the quest for happiness and love. I highly recommend this book.

The Untamed Bride

With “The Untamed Bride,” the first in the “Black Cobra Quartet” series, prolific and beloved Regency Romance author Stephanie Laurens presents a new storyline that will delight fans of her previous works, and earn her new admirers as well.

Given a document which could bring down the villainous cult, Delborough and his three trusted comrades set out from India, heading back to England with the evidence. Along the way, the four must face adventure and danger, and of course, a few lusty, desirable ladies along the way. (This is a romance, after all!)

Colonel Del encounters the gorgeous Deliah Duncannon on his journey, a delightful woman with great secrets of her own to hide. She soon becomes vital to Del’s mission, and as they work closely together, the two find themselves becoming undeniably attracted to each other. Can their emotions be held in check as they work to conqueor the enemy?

Stephanie Laurens masterfully intertwines characters and storylines from her popular Cynster Family and Bastion Club series into this new exciting series as she continues the romantic and lusty stories that her readers adore. And if you have missed out on any of Laurens’ previous works, “The Untamed Bride” contains a special “The World of Stephanie Laurens” section which outlines all the characters and plotlines from her series.
