Happy 120th Birthday, Agatha Christie!

Today is Agatha Christie's 120th Birthday!

For those who have been living under a rock or on another planet, Agatha Christie was the quentessiental mystery/crime writer. Did you know she also wrote romances under the name Mary Westmacott?

Agatha is best remembered for her 80 detective novels—especially those featuring Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple—and her successful West End theatre plays.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Christie is the best-selling writer of books of all time and, with William Shakespeare, the best-selling author of any kind. Only the Bible has sold more than her roughly four billion copies of novels. According to UNESCO, Christie is the most translated individual author, with only the collective corporate works of Walt Disney Productions surpassing her. Her books have been translated into at least 103 languages.

So, Happy Birthday Miss Agatha!  The Mystery world still loves you!!

Sharon - I love your tribute. And I must also take a moment to thank you for reviewing mysteries in Christie's tradition. Happily joining you in raising a glass to Dame Agatha today. Cheers!

I loved the episode of Doctor Who from the Doctor/Donna series that had to do with Agatha. It was such a unique story.

And no...I didn't know she wrote romances. How awesome!

120 years! And 80 books. I should count how many I've got. (And I loved the Dr Who episode too.)
