Dewey's 24-hour Read-a-Thon! UPDATED!

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE:   Well folks, I'm headed to bed to read a while longer. I have Susan Wittig Albert's Tale of Oat Cake Crag to keep me company.  Don't know if I'll check back in before morning, but will do a final update in the morn!  Happy reading, ya'll!

UPDATE!   Whew, my eyes are barking!  lol!  It's 10:30 and I'm gonna take a weee little break and scoot around the internet for a bit and see how everyone else is doing!
I've updated my progress at the bottom of this blog!

Well, I'm a total doofus, and completely forgot that this was READ-A-THON DAY!!!!  Luckily, I remember, 3 hours into the fun - but I'm a fast reader, so I'll catch up, I'll catch up!!!

To find out more about the Dewey 24-hour Read-A-Thon, go to http://24hourreadathon.com/!  It's a lot of fun!

Here is one of the first meme of the day -

Where are you reading from today?   I'm reading from home.

3 facts about me …  Ugh - 1. I am a voracious reader - I read at least one book a night, sometimes two; 2. I'm very fond of cozy mysteries and romance novels; and 3. I have a novel that just needs the last few chapters edited and it's good to go - now I just need the push to get it out!

How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours?   Realistically, I hope to read four, but maybe more.

Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?  I'd like to look around at other blogs to see what other bloggers are reading!  Other than that, just having fun with the "thon!"

If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, any advice for people doing this for the first time?    Stock up on caffeine!

Ok - there we go!  And we're off - or I'm off, or something....lol!  I'll be updating this page throughout the read-a-thon, so I'm looking forward to a day and night of reading!  woohoo!

So I picked up a book on my own from the shelf and I started to read on my own to myself. And nonsense and knowledge come tumbling out, whispering mysteries, history’s shout, the wisdom of wizards, the songs od the ages, all the wonders of wandering wonderful pages. ~Karla Kuskin

Yay! Glad you remembered in time to join in. And I'm impressed that you read one or two books a NIGHT. I wish I could read that fast. :)
Good luck, and happy readathoning!

Thanks everyone for coming by to comment, especially cheerleader Trisha! It's been a nice quiet day so far for reading. Remedies was very interesting, although I didn't care much for the characters. Mothers and Other Liars was very intense and fast moving. And I adore Laura Childs, so I'm enjoying her book a lot!

Read, Read, Read!
You reach for the next book you need,
Another pot of coffee, better brew it strong
But I'm still here to cheer all night long!

I'm not so good at clever cheers - just keep on reading, and we'll be here (to keep you motivated - yeah!)

Looks like you're doing great - and we're past the halfway point now :-).

Happy Readathon!
