Book Blogger Blog Hop!

It's Friday and that means the weekend is here!
It's blog hopping time!

Book Blog Hop is a weekly meme sponsored by Crazy For Books (http://www.crazy-for-books.com/)

Question of the week is:

"If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?"
It drives me crazy to get a book that is the third or fourth in the series. Sometimes the stories are able to stand alone, but I usually try to get the first books so I'll know what's going on!
Don't forget to check out my Rick Springfield giveaway!  Click the button at the top of the page to enter to win a copy of his memoir, "Late Late At Night."

Thanks for stopping by!

I usually will start with the first book if I realize it is part of a series soon enough. The Hunger Games is definitely a series that wouldn't make much sense if read out of order.

I try to go back and read from the first book unless it's a book for review. Then I'll read it and go back and catch up with the series later.

I can dive right into the middle of a book series if the series' story
doesn't run chronologically.

That is to say, if each novel in a series is a stand-alone story (like Lee
Child's Reacher novels) then I don't feel the need to start with book one.

On the other hand, a series of books (like Richard Hatch's Battlestar
Galactica novels) can't be read out of sequence since each new book builds
upon the story of the previous entry in the series.

Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!

I don't like getting a book out of series; however, if the book I have is able to stand well on it's own, then I don't mind going out to get the rest of the series!
