Late Late At Night by Rick Springfield - Review and.....GIVEAWAY!

What teenage girl in the 1980s didn’t want to be “Jessie’s Girl,” the subject of the iconic hit song by Rick Springfield?  Springfield discusses his inspiration for the song plus intimate details of his life in his autobiography “Late Late At Night.”

Born Richard Lewis Springthorpe in Australia, Springfield was a typical teenager who was obsessed with music growing up. He was in many bands, including one which took him to the battlefields of Vietnam right in the middle of the raging war as they struggled to entertain the troops and stay alive at the same time.

Look at that sweet face!
Persuaded by his then manager to go solo, Springfield came to the United States to eventually become a teen idol with his song “Speak To The Sky” and a starring role in a Saturday morning cartoon series. In the 80s Springfield tried out his acting skills as he played Dr. Noah Drake on “General Hospital” for two years.

Springfield is very candid in this book, discussing his struggles with depression throughout his life. He seems to have settled into a stable family life with his wife and boys, and his writing shows a graceful maturity from a man who has been through a lot in his life.

In honor of Rick Springfield's new book, I'm giving away a brand new copy of "Late Late At Night."

To Enter: Just leave me a comment here. For an extra entry, become a follower, and for one more entry - tell me who your favorite teen idol was when you were growing up!  Be sure to leave your email address too, so I can get hold of you!

(Giveaway limited to the U.S. only)

I'll draw for a winner on Sunday, November 14th!  Good luck everyone!

I was looking through my dashboard and saw this. Take me back a few years and my HUGE crush on Rick Springfield. I had all of his records, watched him on General Hospital. Remember him from the first episode of "Battle Star Gallactica" and an episode of "Wonder Woman" I also had a crush on Simon LeBon of Duran Duran.

I had a different Michael Jackson button for every day of the month. This was back in the days of Thriller-before the scandal and too much plastic surgery. He was just a cute guy with great music and I was certain that I would be a great friend to both him and Bubbles. (really)

I follow you on FaceBook!

Thanks to Melanie @ Yellow Rick Road, I was alerted to your blog. I live in Canada so cannot qualify for the book giveaway...but that is okay....I already have and have read my own copy!

Teen Idols growing up, they changed quite a bit but the 2 constants have been Rick and Jon Bon Jovi.

Thanks East Coast Mel for "sharing"!! I have seen Rick in concert about 8 times and each time it is a great concert, and knows how to show his fans a great show. I have even had friends go that do not like his music, and the next day ask for some of my collection of his cd's to listen to!
I had too many crushes Rick Springfield is one, Andy Gibb, Shaun Cassidy. (I guess I like musicans)

My fave teen idol was Rick and not afraid to admit still is my fave (hubby has to deal with it). Fighting cancer right now and will be in radioactive treatment and isolation during the holidays (will miss my 3 yr old and hubby). Plan on taking Rick into isolation with me. My dream is to meet him in person - somehow, someway, maybe on one of his cruises, maybe just out and about since I actually don't live too far from Malibu. Oh well, a tired mum fighting cancer can dream!
