Day 2 of CRAFTING WEEK: Review of "Crafty Chica's Art de la Soul: Glittery Ideas to Liven Up Your LIfe" by Kathy Cano Murillo

Welcome to Day 2 of CRAFTING WEEK!

Let me introduce you to one of my favorite crafters/writers - Kathy Cano-Murillo, aka The Crafty Chica - and one of my favorite books of hers - "Crafty Chica's Art de la Soul: Glittery Ideas to Liven Up Your Life."

About the Book:
This book is half projects to make and half essays and self-empowerment features. Glittery ideas to liven up your life!

Crafters everywhere can tap into their creative spirits with this idea-packed, beautifully illustrated book
No one knows better than crafty chica extraordinaire Kathy Cano Murillo the satisfaction that comes with creating one-of-a-kind items. In Crafty Chica's Art de la Soul, she offers thirty original projects ranging from colorful jewelry and elegant candles to hip Mexican coffee coasters.

Treasure box!

Along with full-color photographs, step-by-step instructions, and a handy resource guide are Murillo's fun and inspiring tips for connecting with your culture, tapping into your creative spirit, and finding new ways to spice up your love life, glam up your garden, redecorate your kitchen, and much more.

A pretty fence for the garden!

With Kathy Cano Murillo's guidance and glittery ideas, crafty chicas of every age and skill level will be well on their way to developing their own personal sense of style while living artful lives.

I love these sugar skulls!

My Thoughts:

I absolutely love Kathy's lively sense of style, humor and color and the absolute passion that she injects into every project, be it crafting or writing, that she tackles. The stories that accompany each chapter of this book feel like a personal invitation from Kathy to pull up a chair and sit down and listen a'spell - they are warm, funny, and just "Kathy."

I adored her first novel, "Waking Up In The Land of Glitter," and am looking forward to her next fiction book, "Miss Scarlet's School of Patternless Sewing," due out March 8th.  I'll be hosting Kathy back here on the blog on March 9th with a review of her new book - so be sure to come on back to see what new fun she has up her sleeve - You can bet money it will be spangled, rhinestoned and glittered to the max!

About The Author:

With a life motto of “Crafts! Drama! Glitter!” Crafty Chica Kathy Cano-Murillo is a creative force of nature. A former syndicated columnist for The Arizona Republic, she is the founder of the award-winning Web site, CraftyChica.com and the author of seven nonfiction craft books and a Web series on LifetimeTV.com.
Kathy has a Crafty Chica line of art supplies that are sold nationwide. She also has been featured in numerous media outlets such as The New York Times Magazine, NPR’s Weekend Edition, USA Today, Bust, and Latina magazine. She has shared her crafty ideas on local television, as well as on Sí TV, HGTV, and DIY network.
She has been writing stories longer than she has been crafting. Inspired by Judy Blume and Erma Bombeck, she caught the literary bug in grade school, where she used to draw a picture and then write a colorful story to go with it. It’s a creativity exercise she still practices to this day! Kathy lives in Phoenix, Arizona, with her husband, two kids, and five Chihuahuas.
