Mark of The Rose: The Tudor Vampire Chronicles by Kate Pearce

As some of you know, I'm not a giant fan of vampire novels - but occasionally my head can be turned by a well-written story with a fascinating cast and a great plot.

This was the case when I was introduced to Kate Pearce's "The Tudor Vampire Chronicles" a couple of years ago.  I was just delighted with the story setting during the reign of Henry the VIII, and the idea that vampires and Druids might be among his court. I devoured (pun intended) "Kiss of The Rose," and "Blood of The Rose," and now am pleased to tell you about the latest book in the series, "Mark of The Rose."

About The Book:

After hearing that Vampires have returned to the court of Henry VIII, Rhys Williams must form an unwanted alliance with Verity Llewellyn, a lady-in-waiting to the new queen. His childhood companion has grown into a clever and beautiful woman, but she is completely untried as a Vampire hunter.

The revelation that the queen is pregnant only makes the situation all the more dangerous. Who is systematically draining her blood and how, without being noticed? As Rhys and Verity work together to untangle the mystery, the battle to save the queen and the heir to the throne heats up—as does the uncontrollable passion between them.

"Mark of The Rose" is Rhys Williams' story and I, for one, was delighted to see the Welshman, who had been such a devoted servant to Rosalind Llewellyn, finally get his chance in the spotlight! He earned his new title as Sir Rhys for his valiant service in the previous vampire encounters, and now it was his time to be the hero of the story. And sweet, but fiesty Verity Llewellyn is just the right gal for Rhys.

I truly enjoy how Kate Pearce incorporates the history of the Tudor reign into her stories, as she works her way through Henry VIII's wives.  Her story is sensual and very sexy (for mature readers!), and the action is lively and exciting. Just what you want in a hot and adventure-filled romance! Plus there are vampires!

Kate's "Tudor Vampire Chronicles" will appeal to a wide range of readers - from historical romance to vampire fans to fans of well-written fiction - there is something here for nearly everyone!  I highly recommend this series.

About The Author:

Kate Pearce was born into a large family of girls in England, and spent much of her childhood living very happily in a dream world. Despite being told that she really needed to ‘get with the program’, she graduated from the University College of Wales with an honors degree in history.

A move to the USA finally allowed her to fulfill her dreams and sit down and write that novel. Along with being a voracious reader, Kate loves trail riding with her family, ‘western style’ in the regional parks of Northern California. Kate is a member of RWA and is published by Kensington Aphrodisia, Ellora’s Cave, Cleis Press and Virgin Black Lace/Cheek.
