Book Review - The Gingerbread Bump-Off: A Fresh-Baked Mystery by Livia J. Washburn

I LOVE gingerbread! I love the smell, I love the taste, I just love it!

So I was thrilled when I saw that the latest Fresh-Baked Mystery from author Livia J. Washburn was titled "The Gingerbread Bump-Off."  But this time around, the gingerbread is a part of the clue in an intriguing mystery in the small Texas town of Weather!

About The Book:

A Christmas killer has been icing Phylis Newsom's friends in the sixth Fresh-Baked mystery.
Not only will Phyllis Newsom's house be featured in the annual Christmas Jingle Bell Tour of Homes, she also has a Christmas Eve bridal shower and a New Year's Eve wedding to bake goodies for. But like her tasty treats, she rises to the occasion.

Before the tour gets under way, Phyllis makes a gruesome discovery on her porch: someone has tried to kill her friend. As Santa's naughty list gets longer, Phyllis tries to catch a half-baked killer.

I really enjoy Livia Washburn's Fresh-Baked mysteries.  I used to live near Weatherford, Texas, the small town featured in this charming series, and it's fun for me to recognize landmarks and places she mentions throughout her books.

But, even if you have never even heard of Weatherford, you can still enjoy these wonderfully crafted mysteries that are full of a little mystery, a lot of fun, and a whole bunch of great sounding recipes that are highlighted throughout each story.  Livia's cast of characters are charming, intelligent and sassy at times, and the close friendships between the main character Phyllis and her boarders are heartwarming.

This is a Texas cozy mystery at it's best!  I can't wait to see what treats Livia has in store for her next book!
