Weekend Cooking: The Food 52 Cookbook by Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs

It's kinda cold and gray outside today, so it's a good day to sit around by the fire and read cookbooks!

(Yes, I know, there is some silly football game on today - I'd rather read, thank you!)

One of the loveliest cookbooks I've ran across in a while is a wonderfully hefty volume titled "The Food 52 Cookbook."

About The Book:

The Best Cooks Are Home Cooks

Accomplished food writers and editors Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs had a mission: to discover and celebrate the best home cooks in the country. Each week for fifty-two weeks, they ran recipe contests on their website, Food52.com, and the 140 winning recipes make up this book. They include:
  • Double Chocolate Espresso Cookies
  • Secret Ingredient Beef Stew
  • Simple Summer Peach Cake
  • Wishbone Roast Chicken with Herb Butter
These recipes prove the truth that great home cooking doesn’t have to be complicated or precious to be memorable. This book captures the community spirit that has made Food52 a success. It features Amanda’s and Merrill’s thoughts and tips on every recipe, plus behind-the-scenes photos, reader comments, and portraits of the contributors—putting you right in the kitchen with America’s most talented cooks.

This book is the result of a mission food writers Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs set forth when they started the Food 52 website.  Gathering recipes from some of the finest home cooks in the country, the ladies put together this beautiful book full of delicious recipes, delightful stories, and mouth-watering photographs.

Since receiving this book, I find myself returning to flip through the pages for inspiration and just to savor the community-feeling that you get when you read other's stories about their love for cooking.

I highly recommend this book for all home-cooks and people who just love to read about fine food!  It's a winner!

An added bonus - if you wanted to see what the "Food 52" community is up to, visit their incredible website at http://www.food52.com/

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I was not compensated for my opinion.
