TLC Blog Tour Stop - "The Bet" by Darlene Panzera Plus A Giveaway!!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!   Darlene's novella has been expanded into a full novel and is now available from Avon Impluse!

Today, I'm so excited to be hosting a book blog tour stop for a very special and unusual story.

This tour stop is for the novella, "The Bet" by Darlene Panzera.  Darelene was the winner of Debbie Macomber's "Make Your Dreams Come True" writing contest, and her absolutely charming story is included in the summer release of Debbie's "Family Affair" novel.

About The Book:

America’s most beloved author Debbie Macomber opened her heart and turned a page in publishing history last winter when she empowered Avon Books, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, to host the “Make Your Dreams Come True” writing contest, which would give one very special, prize-winning aspiring author the chance to break into publishing by having her cozy romance published alongside the classic Macomber novella, Family Affair, with a special re-issue that went on-sale 6/26/12.

Family Affair was first published as a novella in the Purrfect Love anthology more than a decade ago, and was released last year as a special holiday gift-sized hardcover. This new version is the only edition to include the prize-winning novella The Bet.

About The Story - (And My Review):

Jenny O'Brien is desperately trying to save her family's ranch, but when she finds out that the townfolks are taking bets on which man she might marry to help her in her quest, she is not too happy!  And when a mysterious stranger comes in and places a $10,000 bet that he will be the man Jenny marries - well, things really begin to heat up!

Nick Chandler started out just wanting to get Jenny's ranch in order to complete his own very crucial land deal, but when he takes on the job of being ranch manger just to be closer to her, Nick finds himself falling in love with the fiesty Jenny. But how can he tell her who he really is, and convince her that he has had a change of heart?

Darlene Panzera has set this lively and fun love story in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State, and along with her fascinating band of characters and the beautiful setting, her storytelling skills pulls the reader in and keeps them entertained to the very end.  She adds just enough mystery and intrigue into the story to keep the plot moving along, and her secondary characters are just as interesting as the main ones. (I'd love to see Darlene write a story about Nick's sister Billie!)

For fans of contemporary romance, "The Bet" is a slice of life charmer that is just perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up!

I highly recommend both Debbie Macomber's "Family Affair" and Darlene's "The Bet."

About The Author:

A graduate of the Writer's Digest Advanced Novel Writing School and The Christian Writer's Guild apprentice program, Darlene is an active member of Romance Writers of America's Greater Seattle and Peninsula Chapters. She's attended numerous conferences and classes, served five years on the board of RWA's Peninsula Chapter and in 2011 served as chapter president.

Darlene is the winner of the "Make Your Dreams Come True" contest sponsored by Avon Books which led her novella, THE BET, to be published with Debbie Macomber's FAMILY AFFAIR released June 2012. She received a second contract with Avon Books, a division of HarperCollins, for the full length manuscript of THE BET, and is currently working on her next novel.

She's also published several short stories and A Look of Love was a top finalist for Writer's Digest Popular Fiction Awards Contest.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Darlene now lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and three children. When not writing, she enjoys camping, hiking, photography, horseback riding, crafts, music, and lazy days at the lake.

Darlene would love to hear from her readers. You can find her on Facebook or Twitter

I love it when the secondary characters are well developed, and it's really fun to see an author give those characters their own books. I hope Darlene does that too!
