About The Book:
In the final story of the Inn at Shining Waters, Anna’s granddaughter Sarah is struggling to find herself. And in an attempt to escape her parents’ dysfunctional lives, Sarah travels away from all that is familiar. But her grandmother’s love and the pull of the river draw Sarah back. Still it’s not an easy journey to find the healing and forgiveness that’s needed to reunite and strengthen this broken family together again.
Melody Carlson concludes her "Inn At Shining Waters" series with a reunion of the main characters - Anna, Lauren, and Sarah - that readers have meet in the previous two books, "River's Song" and "River's Call," and a fitting ending to each of their stories. While I haven't had the pleasure of reading the first two novels, I easily slid into the backstory that each character carried into this tale, and was able to follow along with previous occurences.
I was charmed by the sweetness and love found in this novel, and found the characters very personable and realistic. I also was impressed with the inspriational aspect of the novel - it was very well-threaded throughout the tapestry of the story and the reader can feel the faith and hope that fills the tale.
The story is set in the late 70's, and included many of the cultural aspects of that era - the music, the news events of the day, etc. - in the tale. As Anna's granddaughter Sarah struggles to return to "real life" after living in a commune, it was interesting to see how gently and lovingly Anna helped her make the transition, and how her faith helped her to encourage her loved ones to keep their eye on God.
I would highly recommend this novel, as well as the previous two in the series, for anyone who enjoys well-written inspirational fiction.
