Ah, a little romance, a little comedy and a whole lot of undead zombies - sounds like the perfect combo for a memorable book to me!
If you like creepy, thrilling, scare-you-out-of-your-wits zombie stories with a healthy dose of romance and humor, then Isaac Marion's new novella, "The New Hunger," will right up your alley!
Today Zola Books has available "The New Hunger," the much-anticipated prequel to WARM BODIES, as an eBook exclusive
novella at www.zolabooks.com.
New York is a bayou.
New Orleans is a reef. The entire country has been devastated by natural
disasters and governmental collapse, and on top of everything else there is the
annoying problem of zombies trying to devour you at every turn. But
sixteen-year-old Nora and her younger brother Addis are about to discover the
most frightening thing yet: being abandoned in this horrific world by their own
parents.
Left with only a bag
of clothes and a first-aid kit, Nora and Addis begin a harrowing journey to
connect with anyone who isn't looking to rob them or eat them. A wounded man
wrecks a meal of green beans and French fries at the top of the Space Needle in
Seattle. An attempt to get a good night’s sleep in a fortified motel is ruined
by an undead face staring at them through the window. And they just can’t seem
to shake someone – something – that’s been following them everywhere they
go….
Meanwhile, a girl
named Julie is traveling toward the city in an SUV with her parents. She is only
twelve, but has already seen friends die and her school burn. She has watched
her father become nearly as cold and remorseless as the Dead. All she wants is
someplace to call home, even if it never really will be.
And somewhere
nearby, a tall man awakens in the woods, unsure of exactly where he is, or even
who he is. As he struggles to remember details of his life, a single consonant
comes to him: R. He is…a name that begins with R….
Isaac Marion once
again demonstrates his remarkable gifts as a storyteller as he brings the world
of WARM BODIES back to life. Grounding his characters in real emotion, Marion
makes you root for them to save the world even as they simply try to stay
alive.
Special Note: On February 1st, Summit Entertainment (producers of the “Twilight” franchise) will release the major motion picture “Warm Bodies,” based on Isaac Marion’s 2010 cult novel of the same name, in which a zombie’s romance with the girlfriend of one of his victims sets in motion a sequence of events that transform the entire lifeless world.
Isaac Marion was born near Seattle in 1981 and has
lived in and around that city ever since. He began writing in high school and
self-published three novels before finally breaking through with Warm
Bodies. He currently divides his time between writing, playing obscure
instruments in obscure bands, and exploring the country in a 1977 GMC motorhome
named Baleen.
Outstanding
praise for WARM BODIES:
“Gruesome yet
poetic…a paean to the power of storytelling.” –The Seattle Times
“Marion is a
disarming writer, ruefully humorous, knowingly cinematic in scope. This is a
slacker-zombie novel with a heart.” –The London Guardian
“It’s got the
boarded-up strongholds and mob mentality of ‘Night of the Living Dead’—but also
romance.” – Time Out New York
“Has there been a
more sympathetic monster since Frankenstein’s?” –The Financial Times
“If you’re a fan
of The Walking Dead and love a good romance, then this one’s for you.”
- Entertainment Weekly
“A mesmerizing evolution of a classic
contemporary myth.” Simon Pegg, actor ‘Shaun of the Dead’
“Isaac Marion has created the most unexpected
romantic lead I’ve ever encountered. I never thought I could care so
passionately for a zombie.” –Stephenie Meyer, #1 New York Times bestselling
author of the Twilight saga
