Book Blog Tour Stop - The Best Man by Kristan Higgins

SOMETIMES THE BEST MAN IS THE ONE YOU LEAST EXPECT…

Faith Holland left her hometown after being jilted at the altar. Now a little older and wiser, she’s ready to return to the Blue Heron Winery, her family’s vineyard, to confront the ghosts of her past, and maybe enjoy a glass of red. After all, there’s some great scenery there….

Like Levi Cooper, the local police chief—and best friend of her former fiancé. There’s a lot about Levi that Faith never noticed, and it’s not just those deep green eyes. The only catch is she’s having a hard time forgetting that he helped ruin her wedding all those years ago. If she can find a minute amidst all her family drama to stop and smell the rosé, she just might find a reason to stay at Blue Heron, and finish that walk down the aisle.

I absolutely fell in love with this book!  I loved the characters, I love the storyline, and I love the setting!

Kristan Higgins' style of storytelling is a pure delight to read - she incorporates a romantic story with a healthy dose of humor and plenty of sizzle, and what more could you ask for in a book! But I was also impressed with the sense of strong family ties that Kristan includes in this story - family is important to the  main character Faith and it's reconnecting with her family and friends that gives her the strength she needs to face some awkward situations as she returns home.  I also appreciated Kristan's portrayal of Faith's epilepsy condition and how it figures into her life and the lives of those who love her.

"The Best Man" is the first in a series that will be set in the Finger Lakes wine region, and if this book is any indication of future fun, then readers have a wonderful time in store for them as the series continues.

"The Best Man" is the first of Kristan Higgins' books that I have had the pleasure of reading,, and after finishing this amazing story, I want to run out and find all her previous books to devour!  I highly recommend this book for fans of contemporary romance!

KRISTAN HIGGiNS is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author and two-time winner of the Romance Writers of America RITA® Award; she lives with her family in a small Connecticut town that boasts a wonderful library, a great agricultural fair, a really good ice-cream stand and not much else. She is the mother of two lovely kids and the wife of a brave firefighter who is also (perhaps more important) a fantastic cook.

Previously a copywriter, Kristan began writing fiction when her children graced her life with simultaneous afternoon naps. Writing, she found, was infinitely more satisfying than folding laundry, and so began her first novel. Kristan holds a B.A. in English from the College of the Holy Cross, which means she can identify dangling participles, quote many great novels and play a mean game of Scrabble.

Kristan is an award-winning baker, devoted fan of the New York Yankees and an avid reader. She and her crew spend as much time as possible at the family home on Cape Cod, where they shiver in the Atlantic, ride bikes, swat horseflies and don’t catch any fish.

My thanks to BookTrib for supplying the review copy of this book. I was not compensated for my opinion.

This sounds like a fantastic book, based on your review alone Sharon I'm going to be sure to buy it before my first long weekend this summer! I love how naturally the connection comes with contemporary romance/fiction, the characters and their families seem like people I know. Another great one to check out, along these lines, is "The Publicist". Sexual tension, humor, work-life drama, all from a real book publicist from NYC so you get the insider industry drama as well, a solid read and a page turner that's perfect for a vacation. Thanks again Sharon for bringing Kristan to our attention!

Thanks for stopping by, Margot! I actually reviewed "The Publicist" recently - here is the link - http://www.garden-of-books.com/2013/01/book-review-publicist-by-christina.html

And yes, you're right - both of these are great for vacation reads!
