Sunday Devotional Spotlight - The Duck Commander Devotional

I'll wrap up my Duck Dynasty week here in a fitting way for Sunday, with "The Duck Commander Devotional."

About The Book:

With the Robertson clan’s flair for down-home wisdom and their wholesome family values, this 365-day devotional reveals the heart and faith of this much-loved family from A&E’s hit show Duck Dynasty.

Loyal fans of the Duck Dynasty family will relish this collection of inspirational messages for each day of the year. From patriarch Phil and matriarch Kay to their four sons—Willie, Jase, Jep, and Alan—and their beautiful wives and children, the entire Robertson clan contributes to this heartening guide. You’ll also hear from Martin, Godwin, and Mountain Man as they share their faith and their personal lives to encourage and inspire readers.

Compiled by the newest addition to Duck Dynasty—the oldest son and former pastor, Al—each devotional contains a brief message, a passage from Scripture, and a prayer. Not only are the messages motivational, but they are also laced with the characters’ trademark wit and revelations of their personal faith journeys. An ideal companion for Duck Dynasty fans, outdoor enthusiasts, and those who want to grow in their faith, The Duck Commander Devotional is certain to inspire you in your own faith journey.

My Thoughts:

I was so impressed with this devotional book. Set up to be a once-a-day reading companion, there are contributions here from the oldest of the Duck Dynasty clan to some of the youngest, and each one of them are enjoyable and inspirational.

My favorites have to be from Miss Kay - she is so down-to-earth and clearly loves her family so much.  It's a delight to read her words of faith.  And, of course, the ones from "Uncle" Si are hilarious, but also contain a good message within the humor.

The Robertson's are truly a family who walk the walk and talk the talk of their faith and it is such a pleasure to have gotten to know them a little better through this devotional.

About The Author:

Alan Robertson is the oldest of the four Robertson boys: he's the one who isn't on the Duck Dynasty® show...yet. He grew up hunting and fishing and helping build the foundation of the family business in the 1970’s and ’80’s. Back in the day, he and Phil would travel around Louisiana and Arkansas selling duck calls to stores right out of the truck! The sales pitch back then was the same as today: “These calls are the best ‘cause they sound just like a duck!”

Alan left the duck call business when he received the call for full time ministry in 1988 and served as a senior pastor in West Monroe, LA until 2012, when he, too, joined the Duck Commander clan to work with the family business. Alan received an Associate's Degree from White's Ferry Road School of Biblical Studies and a Bachelor's in Ministry from Sunset International Bible Institute. Alan lives in West Monroe. Louisiana, with his wife, Lisa, his two grown daughters, and two grandchildren.

My thanks to Howard Books for providing the review copy of this book. I was not compensated for my opinion.
