The Dashing Doc Next Door by Helen R. Myers - Book Review

I am so thrilled to be reviewing the first book in my dear friend Helen R. Myers' new Sweet Springs, Texas series, "The Dashing Doc Next Door."  If you like your romances filled with a touch of sweet, a healthy dash of fun, and a whole lot of sexiness, then this is the book for you!

About The Book:

Can a matchmaking pup bring a city slicker and a small-town doctor together? Find out in Helen Myers's latest Sweet Springs, Texas story!
When city girl Brooke Bellamy rushes to Sweet Springs, Texas, to be by her ailing aunt's side, little does she know that she's headed straight into a whirlwind of her own! Managing Marsha's floral shop and keeping an eye on her aunt's mischievous basset hound, Humphrey, is hard enough. Luckily, Marsha's neighbor, veterinarian Gage Sullivan, is more than willing to give a helping hand with the stubborn pup… among other things!

For years, Gage has heard about his neighbor's wonderful niece, and he's curious to see if the stories hold up. When Brooke proves to be everything Gage had imagined—and more—he's faced with his biggest challenge yet: to convince her that she belongs in Sweet Springs with him.

My Thoughts:

When a big city gal returns to her small-town East Texas hometown, the transition from the fast lane to the slow lane takes a bit of getting used to, but for Brooke Bellamy the change is made a little easier with the help of her new next-door neighbor, town vet Gage Sullivan. Not only is Gage easy on the eyes, he is kind and helpful and is willing to do his best to help Brooke feel right at home, in more ways than one!

I love that Helen Myers has set her new series in the East Texas Piney woods town of Sweet Springs - a cozy little town where everyone knows everyone (and their business!) and look out for each other. This is the perfect backdrop for what promises to be a fun series of romances.

The first, "The Dashing Doc Next Door," introduces readers to the town and it's cast of quirky characters as Myers tells the story of Brooke and Gage, and of course, Brooke's Aunt Marsha, matriarch of the series.  As Brooke makes a home for herself in her beloved childhood hometown, she also finds that by slowing down she can find her dreams once again, as well as finding a love for herself. There's a lot to be said for a slower way of life among the pines!

Myers also adds in the adorable element of a lovable pooch, a basset hound named Humphrey, who works as a "matchmaker" that brings Brooke and Gage together. (Watch for more cute pups and kitties to make their appearance in this series, as Myers is an ardent animal lover!)

Fans of contemporary romance that is filled with a little sizzle will adore this new romance and this series!  The second book, "Groomed For Love," is scheduled for release in May!  I can't wait!
