The Bride Says No: The Brides of Wishmore by Cathy Maxwell - Book Review

About The Book:

New York Times bestselling author Cathy Maxwell returns with a delicious new series, The Brides of Wishmore

What happens when a bride says no?

He is the bastard son of a duke, arrogant, handsome, a little bit dangerous, and, of course, one of the most sought-after bachelors in London. He is also about to be publically jilted by some chit of a girl! Blake Stephens' pride isn't about to let him be humiliated, so he charges after his bride to the wilds of Scotland, determined to bring her to the altar.

What happens when the heart says yes?

He is promised to one woman, but discovers his soul stirred by . . . the chit's sister! Lady Aileen Davidson's reputation was ruined ages ago, which is why she's buried herself in the country, but her fiery spirit and bold beauty threaten to bring Blake to his knees, making him wonder if he has proposed to the wrong lass.

And now he must make a choice: marry for honor . . . or marry for love?

My Thoughts:

I have always enjoyed Cathy Maxwell's novels, and was thrilled to find she had a new series coming out!  "The Bride Says No" is the first book in "The Brides of Wishmore" series and it is a great introduction to the Davidson family and their rocky roads to love!

Sisters Aileen and Tara Davidson had long been under their father, the Earl of Tay's thumb and, frankly, they are tired of it!  Their father has "sold" their hands in marriage to cover his gambling habit and the results of been, in Aileen's case, disastrous.  Now Tara is being forced to marry Blake Stephens for the same reasons and she is having no part of it!  So she runs away with the wedding only three days away.

And it looks like she might have gotten away with her plans until Blake and her father show up in at their Scotland home, determined to carry on with the wedding plans. Only one problem, Blake discovers that his heart may be pointing him in another direction - in Aileen's direction, to be specific. Will the sisters swap men and will the Davidson gals finally find love?  You just have to read to find out!

I love Cathy Maxwell's light and lively style of writing and adore her feisty heroines. She also delivers intimate scenes that are tastefully presented without losing any of it's lusty sensuality.

I can't wait for the next two books in the series - "The Bride Says Maybe" (March 2014) and "The Groom Says Yes" (September 2014).

About The Author:

Cathy Maxwell spends hours in front of her computer pondering the question, "Why do people fall in love?" It remains for her the great mystery of life and the secret to happiness. She lives in beautiful Virginia with her children, horses, dogs, and cats.
