Two Steamy Historical Romances to Heat Up Your Summer Reading!

I am a big fan of historical romances, and I'm so happy to bring two brilliant, steamy, fun romances to your attention - just perfect reading for those hot summer days!

First off is a favorite author of mine.  Sabrina Jeffries has long been recognized as the top historical writer in the romance genre, and with "The Art of Sinning" she brings a new series with a whole new cast of characters, and a few old ones from "The Duke's Men" series, that readers will just adore!

The Art of Sinning

About The Book:

The first novel in the Sinful Suitors series by New York Times bestselling author Sabrina Jeffries!

At St. George’s Club, guardians conspire to keep their unattached sisters and wards out of the clutches of sinful suitors. Which works fine…except when the sinful suitors are members!

American artist Jeremy Keane refuses to return home and take over his father’s business. He’d much rather sample bevvies of beauties abroad, in search of a model for the provocative masterpiece he’s driven to paint. When he meets Lady Yvette Barlow at a London wedding, he realizes she’s perfect for his work—and determines to capture the young heiress’s defiant spirit and breathtaking sensuality on canvas.
No stranger to scandal, Yvette agrees to be Keane’s subject—in exchange for his help gaining entry to the city’s brothels he knows intimately, so she can track a missing woman and solve a family mystery. But when their practical partnership leads to lessons in the art of sinning, can they find a bold and lasting love?

My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this fast-paced and fascinating story.  Pairing up an ambitious American artist and a headstrong English heiress was sure to guarantee fireworks and Jeffries does not disappoint.  The adventures these two characters undertake are fun and the relationship between the two is sizzling.  I highly recommend this novel to historical fiction fans who like a little "sinning" in their books!

About The Author:

Sabrina Jeffries is the New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of the Royal Brotherhood trilogy and the novels in the series The School for Heiresses, The Hellions of Halstead Hall, and The Duke’s Men, as well as many works of short fiction.

Whatever time is not spent writing in a coffee-fueled haze is spent traveling with her husband and adult autistic son or indulging in one of her passions—jigsaw puzzles, chocolate, music, and costume parties. With more than eight million books in print in twenty different languages, the North Carolina author never regrets tossing aside a budding career in academics for the sheer joy of writing fun fiction and hopes that one day a book of hers will end up saving the world. She always dreams big.

A new writer to me, Meredith Duran, with ten novels to her credit, is certainly no stranger to fans of historical fiction. Her latest novel, "Lady Be Good," is a refreshing romp through romances that readers will adore!

Lady Be Good (Rules for the Reckless Series #3)

About The Book:

The third searing novel in the Rules for the Reckless series by Meredith Duran, the USA TODAY bestselling author of sexy and evocative Regency romances in the tradition of Sarah MacLean.

Born to a family of infamous criminals, Lilah Marshall has left behind her past and made herself into the perfect lady. Working as a hostess at Everleigh's, London’s premier auction house, she leads a life full of art, culture, and virtue. All her dreams are within reach—until a gorgeous and enigmatic viscount catches her in the act of one last, very reluctant theft.
Christian “Kit” Stratton, Viscount Palmer, is society's most dashing war hero. But Kit’s easy smiles hide a dark secret: he is haunted by a madman’s vow to destroy anyone he loves. When his hunt for the enemy leads to Everleigh’s Auction Rooms, he compels Lilah to help him. But one tempting touch may be their undoing—for what Kit needs threatens all Lilah holds dear, and losing her may destroy Kit.

My Thoughts:

I was hesitant about coming into a story that is book three of Duran's "Rules For The Reckless" series, but I shouldn't have worried. "Lady Be Good" can easily be a standalone novel in itself.  Yes, there are references to previous characters, but they just add to the story instead of making it confusing for the reader.

Duran's storytelling skills are on point with this story. The plots moves along nicely and the main character, Lilah, is so intriguing with a past that will titillate the reader, and the romance that blooms between Lila and Kit is just explosive!  All you could ask for in a lusty romance.

I really enjoyed this story and fully intend to follow up with the first books of this series.  Highly Recommended.

About The Author:

Meredith Duran is the author of eight previous novels, including The Duke of Shadows (winner of the Gather.com First Chapters Romance Writing Competition); Wicked Becomes You (included on the Woman’s World List of Best Beach Reads for Summer 2010), and the USA TODAY bestseller Fool Me Twice.

She blames Anne Boleyn for sparking her lifelong obsession with British history, and for convincing her that princely love is no prize if it doesn’t come with a happily-ever-after. She enjoys collecting old etiquette manuals, guidebooks to nineteenth-century London, and travelogues by intrepid Victorian women.
